UOK Wellbeing
What is UOK?
UOK is a well-being product designed to help teachers proactively support their student's well-being. Every day students log in to UOK and answer a series of questions expressing their feelings.
{ Problem Space }
First of all, how was I going to tackle the problem?
I first opened the UOK mobile site and began conducting a usability audit, to which I found the many pain points that UOK faces.
I then began organizing the user surveys from students who take the check-in daily. Twenty students partook in the study, and all had various answers to what makes UOK a not-so-pleasant experience.
{ TL;DR }
Problem
Students want to see an upgrade to the platform's aesthetic identity and a more engaging experience when submitting their responses. Ensure they can react to the feedback directly and personally, rather than using the survey's generic replies.
Solution
A web-based mobile app aims for more student engagement through improved user flow, usability, and brand identity.
A third-party engineer in late 2022 will develop this.
My Role
In this project, I wore many hats:
Ideation and Strategy
UX/UI Design
Usability Testing and Prototyping
Branding and Illustration
I consulted with stakeholders & engineers to assess technical feasibility and designs.
{ Key Insights }
Here is what I discovered
Students needed a journal
15 out of the 20 Students surveyed felt they were not being heard when doing the daily survey. (fig. 02)
2. The brand and UI were not engaging.
100% of the collected surveys said that the UOK UI was not engaging, was dated, and left them feeling as if it was a chore than beneficial. (fig. 01)
3. Measuring and Tracking
Students felt that they were not able to measure their moods and track their past surveys. (fig. 03)
